Michael Kors to Launch Bradshaw 100 for Watch Hunger Stop

In October, Michael Kors will launch Bradshaw 100. For each watch sold, 100 children in a hunger strciken area will receive a nutritious meal.  The Bradshaw 100 comes in two versions — black with a silver-tone dial and gold-tone with a gold-tone dial. Both sport a detailed map of the world etched on the face and Kors’ signature engraved on the back, along with Watch Hunger Stop and the Message “1 Watch = 100 Meals.” The limited-edition watches will be available exclusively in Michael Kors stores worldwide and michaelkors.com. They retail for $295.

The Bradshaw 100 is the latest addition to Kors' Watch Hunger Stop initiative. In 2013, Kors entered in to a partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme.

Jennifer Hudson: Favorite Humanitarian At The People's Choice Awards

Jennifer Hudson held back tears when she accepted the favorite humanitarian award at the 2014 People's Choice Awards.

Accompanied on stage Wednesday night by her sister, Julia Hudson, the Oscar-winning actress became choked up as she said: "My mother always taught us without family you have nothing. Whether you know it or not, we all are family. What happens to the other happens to us. It's one thing to be a celebrity and have power, but it means nothing if we're not making a difference and helping someone else."

Avril Lavigne Announces CAMP S.T.A.R.S

The Avril Lavigne Foundation announced that it will launch CAMP S.T.A.R.S., a program to give children with disabilities the chance to attend summer camp.  The program is an expansion of the Avril Lavigne Foundation's Rockstar Club at Easter Seals, designed to support recreational programming for kids and youth with disabilities to explore their talents, make friends, have fun and learn new skills.

Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine Donate $70M to UCLA

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, and music industry entrepreneur Jimmy Iovine have donated a combined $70 million to create a new institute at the University of Southern California, the school announced Tuesday night.

The huge gift from the two who have been music business partners in the past will be used to create the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation.
The academy will provide a special four-year program for undergraduates whose interests span several fields from marketing to computer science to visual design and other arts. It will include one-on-one faculty mentoring with professors from programs around the university and interaction with entertainment industry luminaries.

New York Fashion Week kick off event was The Heart Truth Fashion Show. Celebrities came out in their symbolic red dress to show their support for the national Heart Truth campaign. The campaign's goal is to give women a personal and urgent wakeup call about their risk of heart disease.

With February being heart health month, make sure to show your support by wearing a little something red each day. And if the opportunity arises, slip into a beautiful red dress!

The Results Are In: Americans Are 93% Honest

On Monday, Honest Tea, the nation's top-selling organic bottled tea company, released the results of the first National Honesty Index social experiment.  Among the findings:
  • 93% of participants were honest
  • Salt Lake City and Oakland were both 100% honest
  • Women are 95% honest while men are 91% honest
  • Boston baseball fans are more honest than New York baseball fans
  • Redheads are more honest than blondes and brunettes
  • Motorcyclists were 92% honest while Comic Book fans were 86% honest
  • Men with beards were 96% honest while bald men were 85% honest
… and more than 50 other interesting match-ups, data points and statistics.

Nikos Mouyiaris, the founder and owner of beauty supplier and contract manufacturer Mana Products, has come up with a new twist on charitable giving — provide hard-pressed families with the means to help themselves.

Mouyiaris believes the way to reduce income inequality is by providing employment to neighborhood people through the establishment of local cooperative businesses. MAKE is a 220-stockkeeping-unit color cosmetics brand, that will be sold on the internet, beginning Oct. 15.

Alicia Keys Hosts Annual 'Black Ball'

Alicia Keys held the annual 'Black Ball' event in New York to help raise money for Keep a Child Alive, her 8-year-old organization aiding HIV/AIDS victims in Africa and India.

The charity event saw the grammy-winning singer perform some of her hit songs, covers and collaborate with Usher and will.i.am, as well as host an auction which raised $401,500.

A dinner party with Edward Norton and Naomi Watts went for $25,000 and a trip to Paris Fashion Week to see shows by Givenchy sold for $15,000.

The top bid was a lifetime membership to all Donald Trump golf properties, selling at $180,000.

Keys took off two 18-carat gold bracelets, which she was wearing, and put them up for bid. Once someone agreed to buy the items for $14,000, a light bulb seemed to switch on in her brain.

Celebrities Think Pink


Breast cancer is more than a disease, more than statistics. It’s people, whose lives are forever changed by a diagnosis. Their stories are the basis of “Five,” a movie that will premiere on Lifetime tonight, Oct. 10, in collaboration with Ford Warriors in Pink.

Directors of the movie are Jennifer Aniston, Alicia Keys, Demi Moore, Patty Jenkins and Penelope Spheeris.

“Warriors in Pink has always been about the courage and the strength it takes to fight this disease,” said Tracy Magee, Ford’s primary brand experiential manager. “This year we’ve really been focusing on people’s stories – the stories behind the disease. This Lifetime project ties in extremely well with our Warriors in Pink campaign.
