Givenchy to Show During NYFW

Ricardo Tisci will be showing Givenchy's Spring 2016 line are New York Fashion Week, scheduled to run September 10 - September 17.

Givenchy's extravaganza will take place on September 11, followed by an after party. The French design house is also designing a flagship store at 747 Madison Avenue, set to open at the end of August.

“It’s a very delicate day for America, and so the show is going to be a celebration of family and love,” Tisci said in an exclusive interview with WWD, also disclosing that he is collaborating on the event with his friend, the performance artist Marina Abramović. “She’s going to help me to art direct the show. It’s going to be very interesting.”

Giorgio Armani's 40th Anniversary

Giorgio Armani celebrated his 40th anniversary on Thursday.

Armani started the day with a tour of his new museum and exhibition space, Silos. With 600 of his signature looks are on display at the venue, Silos recounts the 40-year history of his fashion legacy. Armani said he doesn’t like to refer to Silos as a museum. “I don’t want this space to be static; [I] plan to renew the displays with pieces from the new collections every six months,” he explained.

Afterwards guests attended a runway show at his theater. The show consisted of selections from the designer’s Privé collections over the years.

Oscar De La Renta Bridal Spring 2016

On April 18th, Oscar de la Renta's artistic director, Peter Copping, showed the luxury brand's latest bridal line.

The Bridal Spring 2016 Collection is the first bridal line since the the legendary de la Renta passed away in October 2014.

Copping's collection has much of the classic de la Renta glamour - lots of tulle and organza - but added a few more modern-looking silhouettes, some new takes on fabric work, and some silvery sequins.

Chanel to Launch E-Commerce

Chanel will launch e-commerce as early as fourth-quarter 2016, according to Bruno Pavlovsky, Chanel's president of fashion. In addition, three of the Métiers d’Art companies, owned by Chanel under its Paraffection subsidiary, will launch e-commerce by the end of this year. In New York for Tuesday night’s Métiers d’Art show at the Park Avenue Armory, a redo of the one presented in Salzburg in December, Pavlovsky declined to elaborate on Chanel's plans to venture into e-commerce.

Gurung & MAC Team Up For Lux Line

Designer Prabal Gurung collaborated with MAC Cosmetics for his first cosmetics line. Gurung’s 14-stockkeeping-unit collection, will launch Nov. 26 in MAC stores in North America and in December in all of the brand’s international stores except China — although those who attend the designer’s show on Sept. 6 will get a preview of it.

The weighty, detailed gold pieces in Gurung’s lineup push the boundaries price point-wise for MAC. A bronzing powder, a cream color base and a square-handled buffer brush each retail for $70, while three eye-shadow duos will cost $40 apiece, and three lipsticks and three Lipglasses will sell for $30 each. Rounding out the collection are a black eye pencil, $20, and a Chromagraphic pencil, also $20.

As part of its summer menu, patrons of The Ritz London can partake in The Tallulah, presented in a striking black shoe with a glass heel designed by Christian Louboutin.

"The Tallulah cocktail, served in the Rivoli Bar, commemorates a famous moment in Ritz history, when Tallulah Bankhead sipped champagne from her slipper during a press conference," Stephen Boxall, managing director of the Ritz, told WWD.

Diane Von Furstenberg Celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the Wrap Dress

On Friday, Diane Von Furstenberg celebrated the opening of "Journey of a Dress," an exhibit honoring the timeless style she introduced in the early 1970s, the wrap dress. The wrap dress is a flattering, easy-to-wear dress that fastens with a simple tie at the waist.

"This is the first time that I ever honored the wrap dress, and she did so much for me," said an ebullient Von Furstenberg, wearing a black wrap dress with floor-skimming yellow kimono sleeves. "She made me famous. She paid for all my bills. And tonight we celebrate the wrap dress."

The exhibit is on view at the Wilshire May Company Building until April 1 It features the designer's favorite dresses from throughout the decades. Scores of mannequins stand in neat rows, their narrow waists all belted, each in different versions of the wrap dress.

Estée Lauder to Launch Derek Lam Collection

In January, Estée Lauder will launch a limited-edition Derek Lam collection, a makeup lineup that allows the designer to stick his toe into the color cosmetics pool.

The collection will be sold as an $85 set of five products — Kajal Crayon in Near Night, a navy blue; The Mascara in Black Black; The EyeShadow in Smoked Gold; The LipColor in Smoked Blush, and The Gloss in Barely Gold — tucked inside a navy Derek Lam clutch. The satin hard-case clutch includes Lam’s signature dumbbell clasp.

“Derek Lam and Estée Lauder share a sophisticated, aspirational aesthetic,” said Jane Hertzmark Hudis, global brand president of Estée Lauder, adding that the brand is celebrating “eight seasons of backstage beauty with a collection created by Derek and Tom that speaks to their partnership in connecting fashion, style and beauty.”

View The Gucci Men's Flagship On Google Maps

Gucci has launched indoor viewing on Google Maps. Gucci is first brand in the Italian luxury sector to do so and to join the Google Business Photos project. Visitors will now be able to browse through Gucci’s first European men’s flagship, located in Milan’s Brera district, which opened in June.

The Gucci Men's flagship store spans more than 5,382 square-feet across three floors. The flagship features a full range of menswear including ready-to-wear, shoes, luggage & lifestyle accessories, small leather goods, sunglasses, watches, jewellery and fragrances at the ground floor.

New Watch Alert: Pavonina

German watchmaker Glashütte Original newest product launch: the Pavonina women’s timepiece collection. 

The 20-piece collection will hit retail doors this month. The collection marks the first full women’s line to be offered in decades by Dresden, Germany-based watchmaker, a subsidiary of Swatch Group.

Named after the Latin word for peacock — pavoninus — the Pavonina collection borrows colors and forms from the opulent bird. There are straps in purple and teal satin, while the range’s most elaborate red gold and diamond decorated watch features a fanning peacock tail of 98 hand-set diamonds on its mocha or mother of pearl-colored Colorit dial.

Balmain Eyewear

Balmain has entered the eye wear market.

This is the first time Balmain has unveiled a full range of optical and sunwear offerings in the U.S. via a partnership with L’Amy Group

The collection contains 43 silhouettes total — 11 optical and 14 sun styles for women and 11 optical and seven sun styles for men, with each frame available in three to four colorways. Prices at retail range from $260 to $400.
