Carolina Herrera Spring 2016

“This is my rose period,” Carolina Herrera said during a preview. “Fashion should be optimistic.”

Givenchy Spring-Summer 2016 Collection Runway Show

The House of Givenchy, under the initiative of Artistic Director Riccardo Tisci, showed an exceptional collection in New York. The city represents the capital of the American dream for the designer and for the founder Hubert de Givenchy, who were both supported from the very beginning by the American market.

HFR Hosts Style Awards Fashion Show

Last Thursday, Harlem's Fashion Row hosted it's annual style awards and fashion show.

HFR presented the spring 2016 collections of t The Fashion Deli, M-Sew and Fe Noel  “My objective was to present an alternative narrative to African design,” explained Thulare Monareng of The Fashion Deli, a retail platform for African designers. “From what I see, there’s this one-dimensional idea of what African design is, which is very print- and wax print-based.”

HFR Style Award honorees included actress Tracee Ellis Ross, designer Azede Jean-Pierre, stylists Rachel Johnson, Misa Hylton and Groovey Lew, TV host Bevy Smith, InStyle editor Kahlana Barfield and Macy’s.

Harlem's Fashion Row was founded in 2007 by Brandice Henderson as a platform for people of color in the fashion industry.

Designers have gravitated to a calming palette for Spring 2016. They are influenced by art, new global doors opening, unwinding and disconnecting from technology - the latter sounding the best to us! Pantone's

"Colors this season transport us to a happier, sunnier place where we feel free to express a wittier version of our real selves," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. "With our culture still surrounded by so much uncertainty, we are continuing to yearn for those softer shades that offer a sense of calm and relaxation."

Kendall + Kylie to Launch Spring 2016

Kendall and Kylie Jenner will join sisters Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian in the business of fashion, with their new line Kendall + Kylie. The line is set to debut in Spring 2016.

The contemporary line is full of dresses and tops, but includes jeans, jumpsuits and trench coats, as well as swimsuits and cover-ups, manufactured by 3072541 Canada Inc. Kendall + Kylie will also launch a shoe collection manufactured by Marc Fisher Footwear.

The line combines Kendall’s more classic, feminine style and Kylie’s more edgy street style, in mostly black and white with pale pink and blue accents.

Givenchy to Show During NYFW

Ricardo Tisci will be showing Givenchy's Spring 2016 line are New York Fashion Week, scheduled to run September 10 - September 17.

Givenchy's extravaganza will take place on September 11, followed by an after party. The French design house is also designing a flagship store at 747 Madison Avenue, set to open at the end of August.

“It’s a very delicate day for America, and so the show is going to be a celebration of family and love,” Tisci said in an exclusive interview with WWD, also disclosing that he is collaborating on the event with his friend, the performance artist Marina Abramović. “She’s going to help me to art direct the show. It’s going to be very interesting.”

Oscar De La Renta Bridal Spring 2016

On April 18th, Oscar de la Renta's artistic director, Peter Copping, showed the luxury brand's latest bridal line.

The Bridal Spring 2016 Collection is the first bridal line since the the legendary de la Renta passed away in October 2014.

Copping's collection has much of the classic de la Renta glamour - lots of tulle and organza - but added a few more modern-looking silhouettes, some new takes on fabric work, and some silvery sequins.
