Bon Appétit’s Event Was Postponed After 2 Chainz Arrested

2 Chainz was set to show up for a party at Bon Appétit’s test kitchen Thursday afternoon at 4 Times Square in Manhattan. It was part of a promotion the magazine has going as part of its Web site redesign featuring musicians. 2 Chainz, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, was supposed to promote his new album, “B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time,” with a listening party and tasting menu. But three hours before the event, Island Def Jam, the rapper’s label, pulled out. “Unfortunately, tonight’s event has been postponed. Stay tuned for a rescheduled date,” read a message to guests. There was no explanation offered.

It seemed so unlike 2 Chainz to cancel at the last minute, but he had a good reason. Earlier in the day, the rapper had been involved in a nine-hour standoff with Oklahoma City police that eventually culminated in his arrest. Police stopped his tour bus to inspect a broken taillight and suspected drug use, according to the Associated Press. A spokeswoman for Bon App said it’ll try to reschedule. The rapper had prepared a playlist for the magazine that included a new song, “Feds Watching.”
