Hey Loves,
Hello to the weekend, TGIF!
I am going to get straight to the point today, if you are dressed to impress PLEASE make sure your children are too! Too many times I go out and I see parents dressed in their best and then I look down and the children look dirty and raggedy. Where is the family pride? You do understand that your children are a reflection of you. Why do you look good and your child look so bad?!
The rule in my house is, if I can wear it then my children can wear it! Some people may think I am crazy and claim children grow too fast to invest in a wardrobe like their own. How many different size wardrobes do you own? You probably have at least four different sizes in your closet: your real size, the size you squeeze into, the ones that are too big (but you hold on to just in case the weight sneaks back on), and the size you use to be twenty years ago and wish one day you can get back into. With that said, and you know it's true, your ridiculous justification is out the window! Even if that is your belief, you never heard of soap, detergent and water! Wash and iron their clothes and give them a bath, at least! Comb their hair, put some lotion on them and make them look presentable!!
Today's Advice: Your family is a reflection of you! No matter how "good" you look, you all look disgusting in the family portrait!
Peace and Blessings. Enjoy your weekend, back on Monday!

P.S. I would really like to hear from one of "those" parents - you know who you are!

I totally agree. Unfortunately in my house it's a little different. i can't afford to keep us booth FRESH. So, my child has to represent for the team.
Trina - you funny!
As you know, I've seen this a lot on the train lately and have commented repeatedly. Your discussion is more broad, while mine is specifically about one thing...
What bothers me the most is when I see certain women who have mixed children with hair that looks like it's never met a comb before. Can't tell what gender the poor child is, because the clothes are just as you describe.
My thing is this, and I've said it before, love is a beautiful thing and it comes in all colors and genders. Just because you are NOT a particular race, doesn't make you exempt from learning about the culture you have decided to procreate with. If you DON'T know how to do your black child's hair - ASK SOMEONE!!! Be it an actual hair professional, or just the black lady you ride the train with or know from work - IT'S OK to ask for advice and help. I just can't buy the excuse of ignorance anymore - especially not with you-tube...
It's simply unacceptable to let your child walk out the house look'n like the bottom of your shoe, when you look like you just stepped out of Vogue.
Thank you Kia for bringing the issue to the public.
I agree with Trina I have a set of twin Girls and I work hard for them! So Mommy can sit down and and let the girls pop tags!!!!! lol
HI KIA, MY NAME IS TAYA. I TOTALLY AGREE 101% I HATE IT! I WAS A TEEN MOM @ A POINT OF TIME MEANING 14 YRS OLD, WENT TO SCHOOL AND WORKED EVERY SUMMER TO TAKE CARE OF MY CHILD. I WILL BE 27 YEARS OLD WITH THREE CHILDREN (13,7,AND 2) AND BEEN WORKING SINCE 14 FOR MY CHILDREN. I'LL BUY THEM THE WORLD IF I CAN AND ME DYING TRYING. ALWAYS SEE CHICKS STYLING WITH NO PROFILE CAUSE THE KIDS BE LOOKING CRAZY AND DRESS TO IMPRESS WITH THEY HOUSE NASTY........SO PRAY FOR THESE PEOPLE FOR BETTER LIVING. THANK GOD FOR MY MOM AND GRAMS FOR MY COMING UP. U COULDN'T SAY IT ANY BETTER...I JUST WISH I CAN POST IT WORLD WIDE FOR THOSE WHO NEED THIS READING BUT LIKE I SAID, I'LL PRAY.....
I so agree with you, so many times I have been a witness to parents who take the time out to look their best and their children look their worst. Its head turning to see the lack of pride that some parents carry about themselves, the clothes do not have to carry a high price tag for the children to at least appear clean and well groomed.
Have y'all met my Jr swaggers and swaggets! I guess this convo isn't for me. Your children are you!
Totally agree...our children are a direct reflection of us. We can't have our offspring looking like a hot mess and we all fancy-not a good look!!!
I have to say it seems a lot of what is going on today is generational. We certainly are not training are youth today that presentation is everything and that does include the home as well. I guess kids should start saying to their parents like the old Vidal Sassoon commercials "If we don't look good you don't look good"!
LOL!!!!
