Sports With Lindz

By Lindzey McIntyre

This week was not a good week for me sports wise. But there were some bright spots. Let’s delve into those first.

Congratulations to Seimone Augustus, Maya Moore, and the Minnesota Lynx. They swept the Atlanta Dream 3 games to 0 to win their first WNBA title. Augustus was named finals MVP, While Moore; the reigning league Rookie of the Year, hit a 3 pointer late in the 4th quarter to seal the win. While this is Atlanta’s second straight year getting swept in the finals. Another, great year for the WNBA; I, being a lover of basketball sincerely hopes that the support continues to grow for the WNBA, and women’s basketball. Should North Carolina attract a WNBA team in the future, I sure would be there.

In baseball, The World Series is set as The Texas Rangers for the second straight year will represent the American League and the St. Louis Cardinals will play for the National League - Seeing my Yankees are out (Boo Hiss). I’m just going to give you my pick; the Texas Rangers will beat the Cardinals 4 games to 2 in the best of 7 series. Anyone who has different opinions, hit me up and let me know.

Now as to why I’m a bit down. Being a diehard Dallas Cowboys Fan, (let the trash talk begin) the play of QB Tony Romo is killing me. I applaud him for playing with broken ribs and a punctured lung. I’m also happy that we beat our mortal enemy Washington Redskins 2 Mondays ago. I can even deal with the Cowboys having a 2 win 3 loss record.  But losing a 24 point lead to the Detroit Lions and then losing the game is just, uncalled for. Not taking anything away from the Lions. I’m happy they are finally becoming a very good team. But Romo throwing two interceptions in the 4th quarter that Detroit returned for touchdowns’ costing Dallas the win upsets me. Valiant effort versus Brady and the Patriots however I’m beginning to wonder is this all we as Cowboys fans are to expect from Romo. This kind of erratic play week after week will not only keep Dallas out of the playoff picture, they’ll be looking at last place in their division. In my opinion, this is Romo’s put up or shut up year. He better get it together, or The Cowboys may need to get another starting quarterback in 2012, In fact, owner Jerry Jones is probably looking right now.

Gotta bounce, but next week we’ll talk NBA lockout, Brett Farve “compliments” Aaron Rogers, and MLB Playoffs. Have a great week, see ya!
